WHEN TO PULL THE POWER
CORD FROM THEM 4DTV RECEIVERS
Having Trouble
with your Big Dish?
There
will be a few instances where you will need to pull the power cord from
the 4DTV. If you think the receiver is not responding to requests for
IPG data (the unit will take a "hit" but still will not refresh the
IPG) or is not responding to the remote control, sometimes powering the
receiver off by removing the power cord will fix it (unplugging makes
the receiver refresh its memory, like rebooting your computer). This
will not affect the satellite installations or software upgrades. After
the unit is plugged in or reset: The IRD's front panel blanks the
screen for a short time to initialize its internal hardware and
software, similar to a personal computer boot-up. Due to the
complexities of the 4DTV, this can take approximately 60 seconds.
Performing a Soft Reboot:
- Place
your system on G0-101 or G0-13
- With
the power on (green light showing ) unplug the system from the wall for
approximatly 20 seconds.
- Plug the system back in, call your service provider for a rehit
.
- Leave the system on that satellite and channel for 30 minnutes.
- This is to insure your IPG (interactive Program Guide) completely
